MARBLE IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Marble has become a top-choice material that lasts forever and represents luxury and status. It is always the go to choice when it comes to interior design and external covering because of its versatility. In interior design, Marble is used as a decoration piece, fitting any aesthetic.

1. What is Marble?

Marble is a metamorphic rock that forms when limestone is subjected to the heat and pressure of metamorphism. It is composed primarily of the mineral calcite (CaCO3) and usually contains other minerals, such as clay minerals, micas, quartz, pyrite, iron oxides, and graphite. Under the conditions of metamorphism, the calcite in the limestone recrystallizes to form a rock that is a mass of interlocking calcite crystals. A related rock, dolomitic marble, is produced when dolostone is subjected to heat and pressure.

Marble is standout with its beautiful and unique texture. Each piece of marble will have their own unique texture and it cannot be duplicated with other. Besides, Marble also has variety colors from light colors (white, light brown, etc.) to dark colors ( black, dark green, etc.). And after polished, marble surface will be shiny, which makes it one of the favourite materials in interior design.

2. Matching marble with other material.

Marble can be easily combined with other materials to emphasize luxury and style in home furnishings, either in villas or apartments, but also in hotels and in all those rooms which need to stand out for elegance.

Some popular materials that can be combined with marble such as:

Marble and backlighting: An innovative technology in the field of contemporary architecture is represented by the use of backlit marble. The light is positioned in panels mounted behind thin marble or onyx slabs and, thanks to the translucent properties of these materials, a suggestive atmosphere is thus created which enhance the beauty of these millennial precious natural stones.

Marble and wood: The two fantastic materials that are not only stylistically timeless but also capable of conferring functionality, style, and uniqueness to a variety of indoor spaces. Floors, bathrooms, kitchens, furniture, any interior design element can be realized by using precious materials and the combination of marble and wood is very trendy, not to mention that the mood it creates will remain of evergreen style and refinement.

Marble and metal: The combination of these two materials can produce a charm that highlights each other: marble and metal, with brass, copper or bronze finishing. Marble and metal accents work to balance these elements, pulling rooms together and providing a bold touch that reflects your personality.

3. Marble in interior design.

Open-concept living is becoming more and more popular. Using marble column is the best choice for this style. Whether you live in a small studio apartment or a spacious single-family home, it opens up the space and makes it feel elss stuffy and constricted. For each style there will be many different options. So, why don't you choose an elegance marble column instead of choosing unsightly concrete columns, or unstable wooden columns?

Marble has a shiny surface that prevents stains and debris. As a result, they are always ideal for wall and floor tiles, providing a luxurious area while also being easy to clean.
However, we shoudn’t use marble for both the walls and floors in the same space, it might end up looking too stark and cold.
